WEAVING

The women of Peppimenarti are renowned for their weaving. Their art is set apart from other regions by their use of materials (sand-palm and pandanus), processes (all-natural dyes derived from berries, roots and ash) and techniques (knotless netting and coil).

Weaving is an important cultural and social exercise in its own right, yet also informs their painting. The two disciplines are intertwined.
